Promoting Personal Wellness
Practical and simple steps to promote personal wellness:
Stay current on preventive health screening.
Stay up to date on recommended vaccines to protect against serious illness, hospitalization, and death.
- This includes vaccines for flu, COVID-19, and RSV (if eligible).
- Visit our Immunizations page for more information.
Practice good hygiene by covering coughs and sneezes, washing or sanitizing hands often, and cleaning frequently touched surfaces.
Take steps for cleaner air, such as bringing in more fresh outside air, purifying indoor air, or gathering with others outdoors.
Stay home and away from others when you are sick with a respiratory virus to promote personal healing and prevent the spread of illness.
- The CDC recommends staying home and away from others until:
- Symptoms have been getting better overall for 24 hours, and
- If a fever was present, it has been gone for 24 hours without the use of a fever-reducing medication.
- Precautions should be continued even after symptoms begin improving, to prevent further spread of illness. Review the CDC Respiratory Virus Guidance (cdc.gov) for additional guidance.
- Visit the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) Seasonal Respiratory Viruses website for Michigan specific data.
- Testing for COVID-19 is one of the “Additional Prevention Strategies” identified in the CDC Respiratory Virus Guidance
