The tuberculosis (TB) skin test is available year-round by appointment. The cost for a TB skin test and skin test reading is $20 (if not covered by insurance).
- Two appointments will be required:
- First appointment: During the first visit, the nurse will use a small needle to put some testing material under the skin on the lower part of your inner arm. The testing fluid is called tuberculin.
- Second appointment: After two or three days, you must return to have the skin test read. The nurse will measure the size of the bump or reaction. A positive or negative test result depends on the size of the bump or reaction.
