Breast and Cervical Cancer
The Midland County Department of Public Health participates in the Michigan Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Navigation Program (BC3NP).
BC3NP is a nationwide effort to decrease loss of life due to breast and cervical cancer. The program offers free breast and cervical screening services, follow-up care, medical referral, and cancer treatment to low-income women.
Services available through the program:
Screening Services
Women age 21-64 can receive screening services such as:
- Pap test, HPV test (ages 21-64)
- Screening mammograms (ages 40-64)
- MRIs - based on client personal and family risk
Diagnostic Services
If a breast or cervical abnormality is identified from the screening, the woman will be referred to community providers for follow-up. Over 75 diagnostic services are provided free of cost through the BC3NP. Some of these include:
- Diagnostic mammograms
- Ultrasounds
- MRIs
- Breast Biopsy
- Colposcopy services
