Firearm Safety
To help protect Michigan families – particularly children – from the tragedies of gun violence and unintentional firearms injuries, a law requiring secure storage of firearms went into effect Tuesday, February 13th, 2024.
The secure storage law, Public Act 17 of 2023, requires individuals to keep unattended firearms unloaded and locked with a locking device or stored in a locked box or container if it is reasonably known that a minor is likely to be present on the premises.
The Midland County Department of Public Health is offering cable style gun locks (compatible with handguns & long guns) to homes where children are present.
Available while supplies last, at the Midland County Services Building
220 W. Ellsworth Street, Second Floor
Midland, MI 48640.
Now ALSO available 24/7 in the harm reduction station outside of the Midland County Services Building!
