At Sanford Lake Park we have condensed some of our rules for your education, safety (and amusement).
1. Park Hours
This park is open for day use only. Visitors are welcome from sunrise to sunset. After 9:00pm, the raccoons assume management responsibilities.
2. Respect the Park and Others
Enjoy the park responsibly and courteously. Loud, abusive, or disruptive behavior disturbs both wildlife and fellow visitors.
3. No Camping or Overnight Stays
Camping, overnight parking, and sleeping in hammocks “just for a few hours” are not permitted. The owls are the only approved night shift occupants.
4. Dogs and Water
Dogs must remain on a leash no longer than 6 feet and are not permitted in the water at Sanford Lake Park. Even very good dogs. Even very good 'Water Dogs'.
5. Leave No Trace
Please place trash in receptacles and pick up personal items. If you brought it to the park, it should leave with you - except for pleasant memories and approximately 14 pounds of beach sand in your vehicle.
6. Keep Nature Loudest
Portable speakers and amplified music should remain at a respectful volume. Visitors come here to hear birds, wind, and the occasional confused goose.
7. Commercial Activity
Unauthorized sales, vending, and commercial activity are prohibited. This includes pop-up craft shops, candle empires, and “artisan” beef sticks.
8. Fires Prohibited
Campfires and open flames are not permitted. Wildfire prevention is everyone’s responsibility, and park staff prefer their emergencies hypothetical.
9. No Glass Containers on the Beach
Glass bottles and containers are prohibited in beach areas for visitor safety. Bare feet and broken glass have never formed a successful partnership.
10. Do Not Feed Wildlife (Seagulls)
Please do not feed the seagulls. One dropped chip is all it takes to summon a flying family reunion.
