How to be informed in case of emergencies

Where to Get Official Emergency Information

NOAA Weather Radio

Invest in a NOAA Weather All Hazards Radio with Specific Area Message Encoding (S.A.M.E.) and you can receive official weather advisories and watch and warning information from the National Weather Service for Midland County. A good quality radio can be purchased for around $50.

Commercial Radio and Television

Local broadcasters in our area have volunteered to provide emergency information through the Emergency Alert System (EAS). Many radio and television stations participate. In Midland, WMPX 1490 AM is an active partner in providing local emergency information. Some information is also available for Charter Cable customers on Midland Government Television, Channel 188.

Telephone

Call the Midland County Emergency Information Hotline, 1-888-835-5667, to hear a recorded emergency message. You can also call 2-1-1 to talk to an operator from 2-1-1 Northeast Michigan who will answer questions and direct you to where you can get more information.

LEPC
