Midland County Jail
The Board of Commissioners authorized construction of the $25 million jail to alleviate chronic overcrowding at their 100 bed downtown lockup. When it opened in 2009, the new facility boasted both direct and indirect supervision models. The 250 bed jail was new from the ground-up, including dedicated space for medical and educational needs.
The building was sized to handle inmate population increases for 20 years. Residual spaces are rented to neighboring communities as well as inmates under the jurisdiction of federal courts.
