Records Bureau

Records is open Mon. through Fri. from 8:00am to 5:00pm (except holidays). The main number for records is 989-839-4630.

The Records Division is responsible for the following areas: Routing phone calls; filing and retrieving completed incident / accident reports; maintaining statistical data; handgun purchase permits; civil process; autopsy reports and other assigned duties.

  • If you have an emergency call 911 to have the closest available unit sent.
  • Calls for police assistance that are not considered an emergency should also go to 911. Central Dispatch will send the next available unit.
  • If you have a question for a Sheriff Deputy or for records personnel call 989-839-4600. You may leave a message on the Shift Commander's phone. In that case, someone will respond to the message as soon as possible.



Records (Road Division)

One of the Sheriffs duties is the serving of criminal and civil subpoenas, and the enforcement of civil court judgments. The responsibility to ensure these documents are managed properly and served in a timely fashion falls on the shoulders of the Records Division.

The Midland County Sheriffs Office serves approximately 1800 civil process and subpoenas each year.

The Records Division is also responsible for collecting statistics on criminal activity, traffic citations, crashes, and the maintenance of criminal complaints as required by Michigan Law.


Records (Jail Division)

The Jail Records Division is charged with several duties including billing and collections, video visitation, and work release. They also check in all visitors, answer telephone calls, provide general reception duties and assist citizens who may have questions regarding someone in jail.

The Jail Records Division is also responsible for maintaining statistics that relate to the number of inmates in the jail, the jurisdiction from which they come, as well as documentation on inmate debt and jail revenue.

  • Gun Permit - $10.00 (notary fee charge)
  • Explosive Permit - $10.00
  • Copies of Vehicle Crash Reports - $10.00
  • Fingerprints Taken CARDS - $15.00
  • Fingerprints Taken LIVESCAN - $61.50
  • Preliminary Breath Test - $10.00
  • Records Checks or File Checks - $10.00
  • Notary Public Service - $10.00
  • Salvage Inspections - $100.00
  • Reserve Deputy Assistance - $19.00 per hour
  • House Moving Details - Billed at Overtime Rate Plus Mileage
  • Civil Process is served by the Sheriff's Office for a fee plus mileage.

Fingerprint Schedule

The Midland County Sheriff's Office provides fingerprinting services on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 9 AM - 11 AM at the Law Enforcement Center, 2727 Rodd Street, Midland, MI 48640.


Fingerprints are conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.


Ink cards are $15 and you must know the type of card you will need - Federal or State.


Livescan digital fingerprinting is $61.50. Please arrive with your request form.


A photo ID is required for any type of fingerprinting service.
